Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was an Indian aerospace scientist and statesman who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. Widely referred to as the "Missile Man of India" for his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology, he remains one of the most beloved and respected figures in Indian history, known for his humility and dedication to the nation's youth.
Early Life & Education
Born on October 15, 1931, to a Tamil Muslim family in the pilgrimage centre of Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Kalam faced financial hardships early in life. He sold newspapers as a child to support his family. Despite the struggles, his thirst for knowledge led him to graduate in Physics from St. Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli, and later study aerospace engineering at the prestigious Madras Institute of Technology.
